Dear Members & Friends of CCC:

DID YOU KNOW THAT FIFTY PERCENT OF THE PEOPLE IN OUR CHURCHES ARE NOT REGISTERED TO VOTE IN THE NOVEMBER GENERAL ELECTION?

In the last General Election of 2006, there were 22,652,190 eligible voters in California. Out of that 22 million only 15,837,108 registered to vote, and only 8,899,059 actually voted which is just over 50% (56.19).

There are many reasons why Christians in California can play a major role in shaping our culture for many years if they will register to vote, and actually vote.

• IT IS A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

• TO DATE THERE ARE TWELVE STATE PROPOSITIONS TO VOTE ON

• THERE ARE CONGRESSIONAL & STATEWIDE OFFICES TO VOTE ON

• THERE ARE COUNTY & LOCAL CITY COUNCIL & SCHOOL BOARD RACES TO VOTE ON.

Unofficially there are approximately twelve million professing Christians in California who are eligible to vote. Out of that number, only six million are registered to vote, but only three million actually vote.

THE MOST IMPORTANT PROPOSITION ON THE BALLOT IS PROPOSITION 8 WHICH IS THE MARRIAGE AMENDMENT WHICH AMENDS THE CALIFORNIA STATE CONSTITUTION TO SAY; “ONLY MARRIAGE BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOMAN IS VALID OR RECOGNIZED IN CALIFORNIA.”

If this amendment passes, the 4-3 decision by the State Supreme Court will be invalid, and Traditional Marriage can never be challenged in the courts again.

IF THIS AMENDMENT DOES NOT PASS, MARRIAGE AS WE KNOW IT WILL BE A THING OF THE PAST!
HOW WOULD LEGALIZING HOMOSEXUAL MARRIAGES AFFECT PASTORS AND THE CHURCH IN THE NEAR FUTURE?

It is my firm conviction that several things would happen:

• Laws would be passed to force pastors to legitimize and perform same-sex marriages.
• Churches would be forced to allow same-sex marriages or lose their tax exempt status because of discrimination.
• Religious Liberty would eventually become illegal and eventually non-existent.

CCC IS COMMITTED TO DOING ALL WE CAN IN SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY TO MAKE SURE THE MARRIAGE AMENDMENT PASSES.

In 2000, Proposition 22 (which stated the same wording as the marriage amendment does) passed by 61.4% of the vote statewide. In San Joaquin County, it passed by 73%.
WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!

First, we are in the process of launching a massive voter registration drive throughout the county.
Secondly, we are beginning to put together our County Voter Guides which we distribute through the churches. We will be tracking all of the races that affect San Joaquin County.
Thirdly, we will be encouraging all churches to have a “get out the vote” campaign just prior to the elections.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

• Launch a Voter Registration Drive in your church.
• Make sure that your church has a Voter Guide for each family.
• Launch a “get out the vote committee,” by making phone calls to those who
are registered--encourage them to vote, and offer to take voters to their polling place
if they are without transportation.

Finally, do this as unto the Lord. Pray fervently for God to help us!

CCC has been involved with many important issues since 1985, but I can’t recall any that are more important than this one. We don’t hate homosexuals just as we don’t hate someone who is addicted to drugs, or alcohol, or gambling, but we are certainly opposed to the militant homosexual agenda. When anyone tries to pass laws for the whole country to adhere to based on their sexual preference that’s where we draw the line. I am much more interested in pleasing God, than I am man. I know you are too!

Please join with us in preserving marriage between a man and a woman. Thank you for your
prayers, and thank you for your continual support! With your help, we can make a difference!

In His Service,

Ken Owen, Director
